BUCYRUS — People lined Sandusky Avenue as the first of three parades got underway Thursday evening as part of the 2025 Bratwurst Festival in Bucyrus.

Sixteen-year-old Bailee Labombard watched the parade with her four-year-old brother.

“My little brother loves football and to see the players in the parade. I came to support my school,” said Labombard who was sporting a Bucyrus City Schools tanktop.

Shaina Hyer was at the parade with her kids, including 9-year-old Ella Cronin, to support family members involved in the queen’s pageant and other contests at the festival.

“I like to show my support of others who participate in the parade and other events at the festival,” said Hyer.

Cronin was not that enthusiastic about watching the parade.

“I have a wristband and just want to go ride the rides,” said Cronin with a grin.

It was all about supporting others for Sharon Wagner also.

“My aide’s daughter is in the parade,” said Wagner.

Aizlee Boswell waited in front of the Waycraft Industries Building at the corner of North Sandusky Avenue and River Street for her group to take their place in their parade.

“I like it because it’s fun,” said Aizlee of her participation in the parade.

The group’s leader, Tabitha Smith, said it is the third year that they have been in the parade.

“They enjoy it,” said Smith.

Members of the Bucyrus Little Theatre also participated in the parade.

“So many people still do not realize we are here, so this is a good way to reach out to the community,” said Cindy Light, one of the play directors and board members of the theatre.

According to a festival representative, there were 75 entries in Thursday evening’s parade.

This year the time was changed for the Thursday and Friday parades from the regular time of 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate other activities happening during this year’s festival. Saturday’s parade will begin at the usual time of 4 p.m.
