BUCYRUS — It is not too late to sign up for the Bucyrus Public Library’s annual
Summer Reading Program and there are prizes to be won!
The program began on Monday (June 1) but library officials say there is still plenty of
time for residents of all ages to participate.
This year’s program, themed “Unearth a Story,” runs through July 18 and features a
variety of activities, reading challenges, educational displays, and prize opportunities
designed for children, teens, and adults.
Throughout the summer, participants can enjoy dinosaur-themed programs, S.T.E.A.M.
activities, and American history presentations. Visitors to the library can also explore
themed educational displays, including a 10-foot-long dinosaur exhibit.
Library officials noted that summer reading programs help combat learning loss that can
occur during the summer months while encouraging literacy and lifelong learning. This
year’s program also places a special emphasis on community outreach and adult
literacy.
Participants who meet their reading goals will be eligible to win prizes donated by local
sponsors, including AutoZone-Bucyrus, the Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library,
Gionino’s Pizzeria-Bucyrus, Kingwood Center Gardens, Lewis Family McDonald’s, Park
National Bank, Taco Bell-Bucyrus, and Q92.7 WQEL.
In addition to activities held at the library, staff members will offer outreach programming
at Aumiller Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 9, 16, 23, and 30.
The outreach initiative is supported through a grant from the Institute of Museum and
Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.
Residents can register for the Summer Reading Program at the library through July 18.
A complete schedule of upcoming events and activities is available on the library’s
