Tradition in Full Swing: Crawford County Fair Delights All Ages

Logan Andrew Published: July 16, 2025 | Updated: August 26, 2025 2 minutes read

From baby animals to demolition derbies, this year’s fair offers something for everyone — including a few new surprises.

BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Fair kicked off Monday with sunshine, smiling faces, and six-year-old Zachary Fraizer leading the charge.

“I love the donkey and its baby. I love the baby chicks and everything at the fair,” said the enthusiastic little boy, who came with his dad, Jeff Fraizer, to take in the sights, smells, and sounds of opening day.

Now in its 168th year, the fair has long been a staple of Crawford County summers. This year’s festivities will wrap up Saturday evening with a demolition derby hosted by Twisted Metal, promising an action-packed finale.

Between now and then, fairgoers can enjoy an impressive lineup of events. Harness racing is set for Wednesday and Thursday nights, followed by a crowd-favorite tractor pull on Friday evening. A brand-new wiener dog show is expected to draw big smiles — and likely some friendly barking — from spectators of all ages.

Throughout the week, 4-H and FFA members will be showcasing their hard work with daily animal shows. From rabbits to cows, these student-led exhibits are a core part of the fair’s educational mission and community pride.

Hayden Finney and Aria Stennett were crowned Crawford County Junior Fair prince and princess during Monday’s opening festivities. The two will represent the fair throughout the week, bringing a little extra sparkle to each day’s events.

While select grandstand shows may require an additional ticket, most of the fair — including all midway rides — is included in the $10 gate admission. Fair officials emphasized the importance of keeping the event affordable for families, especially during Kids Day on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday will be a day of honor and community. Veterans will receive free admission and can enjoy a complimentary ham and bean supper. It’s also Council on Aging Day, meaning senior citizens can enter the fairgrounds at half-price.

With something for everyone — from fried fair food to friendly farm animals — the Crawford County Fair remains a summer tradition worth celebrating.
