BUCYRUS—The unofficial results are in for the 2026 Primary Election that was held on May 5 and only 20.37 percent of the 27,232 registered voters in Crawford County turned out to cast their ballots.
In the Wynford School District, 680 people voted against a proposed annual income tax of 1.75 percent on the earned income of individuals residing in the district and only 576 voted for the levy.
Renewal fire levies in Polk, Liberty and Jefferson Townships were passed by voters in those areas of the county and two issues in Galion for Sunday sales of alcohol were also passed by voters.
In Polk Township, Julie Bell won a seat on the Republican Central Committee for the county after she received 116 votes, beating out her opponent, Gina Powell Cole, who received 84 votes.
For an open seat on the committee for Galion 2B, Galion City Law Director Michael Bear won with 53 votes versus the 15 received by his opponent, Elmer Copp.
In a race in Bucyrus 2B for a seat on the committee, Eric Griebling beat out Kurt Fankhauser with results totaling 128 votes over Fankhauser’s 34. In Bucyrus 3B, Joyce Schifer won with 54 votes against her opponent, Gary Daiber, who received 28 votes.
Several seats either had no valid petitions filed or candidates ran unopposed.
Running unopposed to keep their current positions were Crawford County Common Pleas Judge Sean Leuthold, Crawford County Commissioner Tim Ley and Crawford County Auditor Robyn Sheets.
Matthew Crall, who is the current Crawford County Prosecutor, ran unopposed for the seat of Probate and Juvenile Court Judge. The position is currently held by Patrick Murphy who is retiring at the end of the year.
Nonpartisan petitions, along with issues and local options, must be filed by Aug. 5 to be on the ballot in November. Write-in candidates must file their petitions by Aug. 24 to be on the ballot.
The General Election will be held on Nov. 3.
