BUCYRUS — A range of criminal charges were addressed in Bucyrus Municipal Court this past week, with jail sentences handed down for theft, domestic violence, child endangerment, and more.

David P. Cooper, of Marion, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. The sentence was suspended, but Cooper will remain on strict probation, subject to random searches and drug testing through 2027.

Timothy C. Mosier, of Crestline, was found guilty of child endangerment and sentenced to 180 days in jail. That sentence was also suspended, with Mosier ordered to abstain from drugs and alcohol and remain subject to random testing.

Zachary H. Jackson, of Bucyrus, received 30 days in jail and a $250 fine after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. He faces additional probation conditions including random testing and a no-alcohol clause.

Amy E. Swalley, also of Bucyrus, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and fined $200 for child endangerment, with similar conditions regarding alcohol and drug use.

Joseph D. Chiow, of Perrysburg, pleaded guilty to both assault and aggravated menacing. He received 180 days on each charge, to run concurrently, and was ordered to avoid contact with the victim and submit to random testing.

Skyler P. Axline, of Galion, was sentenced to 90 days in jail on each of two misdemeanor charges—resisting arrest and obstructing official business—stemming from an earlier incident. Court records show he will also be required to take prescribed medications and avoid drug use.

Sadie L. Kinder, of Galion, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct (fighting) and received 30 days in jail and a $50 fine.

Lawrence E. Sardina, of Galion, was cited for open container and waived his court appearance, paying a $50 fine.

Trent S. Moody, of Galion, pleaded guilty to domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. The court imposed a no-contact order with the victim and additional restrictions on substance use.

Mason A. Keller, also of Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. A related domestic violence charge was dismissed.

Dean F. Henson, of Mansfield, was found guilty of violating a protection order and sentenced to 120 days in jail. Records show the court imposed zero suspended time.

Several felony cases were also bound over to the Crawford County Common Pleas Court:

  • Rochelle M. Bowman, of Galion, for theft (F4)
  • Robert C. Thoman, of Bucyrus, for having weapons under disability and tampering with evidence (both F3)
  • Brooke L. Saffell, of Lewis Center, for possession of drugs (F5)
  • Jamin P. Cowgill and Gabrielle M. Cowgill, both of Galion, for separate cases of receiving stolen property (F5)

More than 100 additional traffic and minor seat belt cases were processed over the same period, with most resulting in fines.
