BUCYRUS — The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Sales are not just limited to the highway itself. Many sales are happening off the beaten path, including the monthly Bucyrus Flea Market and Crafts at the Crawford County Fairgrounds on Whetstone Street.

Sophia Watson and her husband, Mike, came from Galion to check out the items the various sellers are offering.

“We come to this flea market every month, but today, we are hitting all of the sales that are going on,” said Watson. “We’re retired, so it gives us something to do.”

Robin Temple worked on a knitting project while Joseph Temple was waiting on customers at their table for their business, The Thrifty Nest.

“We offer handmade items,” said Joseph, of the many goods they carry — including wax candles featuring skulls, bears, and epoxy creations like dragons.

Kaytlyn Tracy came from Ashland to take part in the Lincoln Highway Sales via the Crawford County Flea Market.

“I have an online business and also come to events like this one. This is my first time here, and it is going pretty well,” said Tracy, of her business Finders Keepers.

Galion resident Jackie Lamb loves vintage décor and was making her way through the sales to see what items she could find.

“I love vintage items, especially linens from the 1960s and 1970s,” said Lamb as she checked out some vintage Christmas decorations in the area for Maw Maw’s Gifts and Stuff, owned by Nancy Maples.

Maples offers an array of items, including dish towels, baby blankets, sweaters, home décor, and much more.

Larry Lovely does not normally come to Bucyrus from his home in Galion to sell his vintage Marx Army men and accessories.

“I go to Bowling Green every month,” said Lovely.

He is offering a Toy Soldier Show at the fairgrounds, though, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 6 in the Youth Building.

“I will have the toy soldiers available as well as sports cards and comics,” said Lovely, who is hosting the event with other toy dealers from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, and across Ohio.

The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Sales continue through Saturday throughout the state. The hours of the Bucyrus Flea Market and Crafts during the sale are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
