A Bucyrus man was found guilty by a jury of his peers on Oct. 16 during a trial in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Joseph J. Diebert, 42, was found guilty of assault, a second-degree felony, after the jury rejected the defense’s position that Diebert acted in self-defense.

He was arrested and booked into the Crawford County Justice Center in February. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by visiting judge Howard Hall and a sentencing hearing was scheduled for Nov. 18.

Bond has been set in the amount of $750,000 for Alfonso Jones, Sr., 72, Bucyrus. Jones was indicted in September on six counts of gross sexual imposition, all third- degree felonies. He is accused of having sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13.

Jones pleaded not guilty to all six charges during his arraignment and was ordered to undergo a forensic evaluation to ensure he is competent to stand trial. He is being represented by local attorney Robert Dinatman.

A man and his mother are facing felony charges in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Lovell C. Wareham, 33, Bucyrus, was indicted on an array of felony charges, including 20 counts of the illegal use of a minor in photographs in a state of nudity, all second- degree felonies, four charges of intimidation and two counts of retaliation, all third- degree felonies, and one charge of importuning, a fourth-degree felony.

His mother, Stacy Brady, 53, is facing two counts of intimidation, both third-degree felonies. She is accused of attempting to assist her son by giving false information to law enforcement. Brady pleaded not guilty to her charges during her arraignment, and her bond was set at $200,000. Wareham is currently incarcerated and serving a five-year prison sentence after being convicted of domestic violence and abduction charges in May. His bond was set at $1 million and local attorney Jerry Thompson was appointed to represent him.
