BUCYRUS — A Bucyrus man was sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge related to a child abuse incident last year.

Jacob M. Laub, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of endangering children, a third-degree felony, during a change of plea hearing on Aug. 27 in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

Laub was indicted on the charge, along with two others that were dismissed as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors, in June of 2024.

He was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay court costs. Upon his release from prison, he will be placed on post-release control for one to three years.

Laub was represented by Bucyrus attorney Andrew Motter and will receive credit for 117 days he has already served in jail.

A Galion woman was placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a domestic violence incident in Galion.

Ariel J. Hall, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony, and a misdemeanor charge of using weapons while intoxicated. The charges were reduced from two second-degree felony charges of felonious assault.

Hall was accused of shooting her then-boyfriend, Jaquan D. Brown, 25, in the leg during the incident.

Brown pleaded guilty to one count of strangulation, a fourth-degree felony, for his role in the incident and was sentenced to one year in prison in December of 2024.

Hall and her attorney, James Mayer III, have maintained that she acted in self-defense.

Crawford County Prosecutor Matthew Crall has previously said that the entire incident was presented to the grand jury, and they chose to indict both parties.

Alvino R. Watkins, 23, Crestline, pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of his post-release control from prison. He was sentenced to serve out the time he has left of his original sentence of a mandatory minimum of four years, up to six years in prison, on one count of felonious assault and nine months that are consecutive to that sentence on a child endangerment charge.

Watkins was originally arrested in December of 2022 by Crestline Police on a charge of endangering children after he was accused of repeatedly administering unwarranted disciplinary measures.

He will receive credit for 207 days he has already served in jail.

Alvino R. Watkins, 23, Crestline, pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of his post-release control from prison.

Jon Schreck, 47, who was arrested in connection with a drug bust in Galion in July, had his bond set at $150,000 during his arraignment in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

During a search by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with METRICH at a residence located at 1112 Beck Road, a large quantity of marijuana was seized.

Officers also confiscated an alleged indoor grow system for marijuana as well as Alprazolam pills, Amphetamine-Dextroamphetamine pills, Acetaminophen-Hydrocodone pills, and Clonazepam pills. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $100,000, according to law enforcement.

After a report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle in the 200 block of East Mary Street on July 31 in Bucyrus, Clayton Bradford, 31, was arrested by Bucyrus Police.

According to police, Bradford was found to be in possession of fentanyl and a firearm.

He pleaded not guilty to one charge of improper handling of a firearm and one count of possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies, during his arraignment in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. His bond was set at $50,000.
