BUCYRUS — Several individuals from Bucyrus, Galion, and Crestline are facing serious felony charges following recent indictments and arraignments in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. The charges range from rape and child endangerment to drug trafficking, intimidation, and felonious assault, with bonds set as high as $1 million. Below is a breakdown of each case.

Randy Bowman

A Bucyrus man is being held on a $200,000 bond that was set during his arraignment on June 17 in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

Randy Bowman, 42, pleaded not guilty to one count of abduction and one charge of duty to register, both third-degree felonies, and three charges of gross sexual imposition, all fourth-degree felonies.

Bowman was charged with failure to register as a sex offender in 2022 and in 2013 also.

Local attorney Jerry Thompson was appointed to represent him.

Kenneth J. Hablitzel

Another Bucyrus man is facing additional charges after he was arraigned in a third case on July 2.

Kenneth J. Hablitzel, 39, has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges which include three first-degree rape charges and two gross sexual imposition charges, both fourth-degree charges, that he was arraigned on in October of 2024.

He was indicted by the grand jury in January on one count of intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a case, a third-degree felony, and he pled not guilty on July 2 to several more rape, gross sexual imposition, an illegal conveyance of drugs into a correctional facility charge, one count of trafficking in drugs, one charge of tampering with evidence, and 10 attempt to commit an offense charges.

Hablitzel’s bond has been set at $350,000 for all three cases combined. Local attorney Joel Spitzer has been appointed to represent him.

Michael L. Mullins

A Galion man is facing a felonious assault charge after a report of a fight in the 300 block of South Market Street was investigated by Galion Police in May.

Michael L. Mullins, 49, was arrested on May 17 on criminal trespass and menacing charges.

On June 3, he was indicted by the Crawford County Grand Jury on the second-degree felony charge along with two misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing.

During his arraignment, Mullins pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his bond was set at $250,000.

Judge Sean Leuthold appointed local attorney Jerry Thompson to represent him.

Jamie and Bradley Heater

A second person has been arrested in connection with a case against a Crestline man on sexual-related charges.

Jamie L. Heater, 41, pleaded not guilty to one count of endangering children, a third-degree felony, on June 25, and her bond was set at $100,000.

Bradley Eugene Heater, 58, pleaded not guilty on June 18 to 10 rape charges, all first-degree felonies, one charge of corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of trafficking in drugs and one count of intimidation, both third-degree felonies.

He is being held on a $1 million bond.
