Florida Woman Indicted on Drug Charges Previously Spoke at Bucyrus City Council Meeting

Logan Andrew Published: January 30, 2025 | Updated: February 27, 2025 2 minutes read

Information from a 2008 arrest of Bridget Luzod

Bridget Luzod, a Florida woman recently indicted in an alleged scheme to unlawfully distribute controlled substances, has ties to Bucyrus City Council President Kurt Fankhauser and previously attended a city council meeting, where she clashed with several residents.

Luzod, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, was charged alongside a physician in a conspiracy involving the illegal distribution of opioids and other controlled substances. The indictment alleges the pair operated a fraudulent clinic that improperly issued prescriptions for profit.

Before these charges came to light, Luzod attended the October 15 Bucyrus City Council meeting at the invitation of Fankhauser. While there, she made pointed remarks about certain constituents critical of council leadership, leading to heated exchanges. Fankhauser did not disclose his relationship with Luzod at the time, introducing her as an out-of-town visitor.

Her comments targeted individuals Fankhauser would later classify as “council agitators,” raising questions about transparency and council decorum.

Freewire is actively seeking additional details, including comments from Fankhauser and others present at the meeting. Further reporting will explore the implications of Luzod’s indictment and its connection to Bucyrus city politics.

For more information on Luzod’s indictment, visit the Department of Justice’s press release here.
