Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to meet K-9 Capone, a four year old police dog already making a noticeable impact in Bucyrus. Finding a moment with him at the fundraiser held in his honor was a bit of a challenge, Capone was busy greeting supporters and taking in every scent at the Make and Bake event hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary. I’m pretty sure I even spotted one of the Auxiliary members slipping him a well earned snack, with permission of course.
Capone was joined by fellow K-9 Ellie and playful newcomer K-9 Vader, the newest addition to the force, who was eager to meet community members.
Between pets and brief interactions, some impressive facts about Capone’s work came to light. Capone has helped remove 378 grams of methamphetamine from the streets of Bucyrus and has played a role in 129 arrests, with his partner, K-9 Handler Officer Devin Wireman.
Capone continues to make a difference in Bucyrus through his work supporting local law enforcement efforts.
Who’s a good boy? Without question, K-9 Capone earns that title.
