Bucyrus Municipal Court wrapped up the end of August and start of September with a mix of OVI cases, assaults, trespass and disorderly conduct charges, animal offenses, and several felonies bound over to the Crawford County Common Pleas Court. While many sentences were suspended, probation conditions and treatment requirements remain strict.
OVI & Driving Offenses
Dirk C. Gurtz, 60, Dayton — pleaded guilty to OVI under the influence. He was fined $565 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 suspended. His license was suspended six months, though he was granted unlimited driving privileges with ignition interlock. A low-test OVI charge was dismissed.
Regina H. Stumpf, 48, Galion — pleaded guilty to OVI under the influence. She was fined $565 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 suspended, with three days served through a driver intervention program. Her license was suspended for one year. Related refusal and headlight charges were dismissed.
Tiffany A. Stamper, 35, Mansfield — pleaded guilty to driving under suspension (violation of restrictions). She was fined $50 plus costs.
Sabrina M. Black, 36, Galion — pleaded guilty to driving under suspension (violation of restrictions). She was fined $25 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended, plus costs.
Devin M. Keener, 19, Galion — pleaded guilty to hit-skip on private property. He was fined $50 plus costs. A related failure-to-control charge was dismissed.
Gregory A. Martin, 73, Shelby — pleaded guilty to fictitious registration. He was fined $125 plus costs.
Assault & Violence
Tiffany A. Stamper, 35, Mansfield — also pleaded guilty to assault. She was fined $100 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 153 suspended. Stamper was ordered to have no contact with the victim, remain drug- and alcohol-free, submit to random testing and searches, and not operate a vehicle without a valid license and insurance. An aggravated menacing charge was dismissed.
Casey M. Zornes, 32, Fremont — pleaded guilty to assault. He was fined $200 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, all suspended. Zornes must remain drug- and alcohol-free, submit to random testing, and is subject to random searches.
Thomas E. Chambers, 43, Mansfield — pleaded guilty to obstructing official business. He was fined $100 and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 78 suspended. Chambers must remain drug- and alcohol-free and submit to random testing and searches.
Trespass & Disorderly Conduct
Kenneth T. Reinhart, 38, Galion — pleaded guilty to criminal trespass. He was fined $285 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 suspended, and ordered to remain alcohol-free with random testing. He also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, fined $25.
Lawrence W. Paone Jr., 29, Galion — pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was fined $285 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 suspended.
Cameron D. Crawford, 23, Galion — pleaded guilty to criminal trespass. He was fined $100 and sentenced to 10 days in jail, to be served from book-in date.
Jeffery A. Hayes, 43, Bucyrus — pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended. Hayes must abstain from drugs and alcohol, submit to random testing and searches, and comply with the terms of a protection order.
Dog/Animal Offenses
Joshua J. Adams, 40, Bucyrus — pleaded guilty to dog at large. He was fined $25 and sentenced to 5 days in jail, all suspended, plus costs.
Felonies Bound Over
Jon M. Schreck, 47, Tiro — bound over on felony cultivation of marijuana (F2).
Conclusion
These two weeks in municipal court brought a heavier-than-usual mix of assaults and trespassing cases, alongside the standard OVIs and driving offenses. While most misdemeanor sentences were suspended, defendants now face probationary terms and strict conditions. The felony case will proceed to Common Pleas Court for further prosecution.
