Bucyrus Redmen vs. Cardington-Lincoln Pirates

Final Score: Cardington-Lincoln 55, Bucyrus 24 (at Bucyrus HS)

The Pirates blitzed Bucyrus with three touchdowns in the first nine minutes — including an 85-yard pick-six — to bolt out 20–0. The Redmen regrouped with a deflected 21-yard touchdown grab by Dylan Coppler and a 3-yard Isaac Makeever keeper, but trailed 34–12 at halftime.

Bucyrus opened the third with a 44-yard Makeever strike to Christian Neal to close to 34–18, but Cardington answered with back-to-back scores — an 8-yard run and an 82-yard burst by Wyatt Denney — that put the game away. Freshman QB Isaac Makeever finished 17-of-27 for 169 yards, 2 TDs, plus a rushing score. Neal had 9 catches for 72 yards and a TD, while Isaac’s brother Wyatt added a 1-yard TD run.

Cardington’s ground game was unstoppable: Denney (23 carries, 252 yards, 3 TDs) and QB Josh Goers (11 carries, 145 yards, 3 TDs) combined for six scores. “They just did what they do very well,” Bucyrus coach Jon Butchko said. He praised his young team’s flashes of quick-strike ability but noted the need to develop in the trenches and “get stingier on defense.”

What’s Next: Bucyrus (1–2) hosts Buckeye Central in its N10 opener.

Wynford Royals at Western Reserve Roughriders

Final Score: Western Reserve 46, Wynford 0 (at Collins Western Reserve HS)

Western Reserve, stung by a shutout loss the week before, unleashed its frustration on Wynford. The Roughriders scored on their first two possessions, added a 28-yard TD run by QB Jaxson Davidson in the second quarter, and led roughly 33–0 at halftime. Wynford’s offense managed just a couple of first downs in the half, twice turning it over on downs.

The Roughriders kept pounding after the break. Davidson broke loose again on a 30-yard score to trigger a running clock, finishing with 150+ rushing yards and two long touchdowns. Carson Hughes and Evan Lyles combined for over 100 yards and two more scores. The Western defense forced four turnovers and limited Wynford to under 150 yards.

Wynford showed a few bright spots — receiver Kaden Miller made three catches for 45 yards, while LB Conor McGuire and lineman Gage Potter battled defensively. Malachi Elswick recovered a fumble, and RB Colton Almister popped a 20-yard run late, but an end-zone interception ended the Royals’ best chance to avoid the shutout.

What’s Next: Wynford (1–2) opens N10 play at home against Seneca East.

Colonel Crawford Eagles vs. East Knox Bulldogs

Final Score: Colonel Crawford 42, East Knox 18 (at Colonel Crawford HS)

For a half, East Knox gave Colonel Crawford trouble. The Bulldogs grabbed a 6–0 lead, then used a trick play to go up 12–8 in the second quarter. But a late Kamryn Lohr fade to Parker Weithman gave the Eagles a 14–12 halftime lead.

The third quarter was a blitz. Linebacker Kahnyah Wilcox forced a fumble on the first snap, setting up a Tristin Cass score. Lohr added a 22-yard TD to Ethan Holt, and Weithman broke a 50-yard punt return to the house. In all, Crawford outscored East Knox 28–0 in the quarter, ballooning the margin to 42–12. The Bulldogs managed a late score against reserves, but the Eagles’ depth and line play proved decisive.

Weithman delivered two receiving TDs and the punt return. Lohr passed for 150 yards and two scores without a turnover. Cass piled up 110 rushing yards and a TD, and Brett Cheney anchored an offensive line that took over after halftime. The defense forced three turnovers and tightened after the slow start.

What’s Next: Colonel Crawford (3–0) faces fellow unbeaten Mohawk in its N10 opener.

Buckeye Central Bucks vs. Fairport Harding Skippers

Final Score: Fairport Harding 47, Buckeye Central 6 (at Buckeye Central HS)

Fairport’s fast-paced passing attack overwhelmed the Bucks, building a 33–0 halftime lead. Buckeye Central finally broke the shutout in the third on a Devon Newland touchdown run, but the Skippers tacked on one more score to seal it.

Standouts: QB Brady Lawson led Fairport with three TD passes; WR Diego Dambolena hauled in two scores. For Buckeye, Newland’s late TD and a 34-yard reception were the highlights.

What’s Next: Buckeye Central (2–1) visits Bucyrus in a county rivalry to open N10 play.

Crestline Bulldogs at Mapleton Mounties

Final Score: Mapleton 34, Crestline 28 (at Mapleton HS)

Crestline battled back-and-forth, tying it 28–28 in the fourth on a Kody Lawhorn touchdown. Mapleton answered with a late drive capped by a short TD run inside the final minute to hand the Bulldogs a heartbreaker.

Standouts: Lawhorn threw two TD passes, while RBs Marion Tull and Avery Carter provided ground support. Mapleton’s RB Evan Conley sealed the win with his second touchdown.

What’s Next: Crestline (1–2) travels to Ashtabula St. John.

Galion Tigers at Norwalk Truckers

Final Score: Galion 41, Norwalk 0 (at Norwalk HS)

Galion led just 14–0 at halftime before exploding for 27 second-half points to bury the Truckers. The Tigers’ offense was balanced and explosive, while the defense forced two turnovers and preserved the shutout with a late red-zone stand.

Standouts: QB Noah Schmidt totaled four TDs (two passing, two rushing), RB Dominic Wade added two scores, and the secondary snagged an interception.

What’s Next: Galion (3–0) travels to rival Shelby (3–0) in a marquee MOAC opener.
