April 29, 2025 A Bucyrus man was killed Monday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 4 in Marion County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 64-year-old Jeffrey A. Arn was riding his bicycle southbound along the gravel berm on the west side of the roadway around 4 p.m. when he unexpectedly swerved left into traffic.
He was struck by a 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck pulling a livestock trailer, driven by 78-year-old Charles E. Foust of Marion. Debris from the impact struck a second vehicle, a 2024 Ford Bronco driven by 29-year-old Tabitha A. Burson, also of Marion. Burson had two juveniles in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Neither Burson, her passengers, nor Foust reported injuries.
Arn was transported by Marion Township EMS to Marion General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation. Marion Township Fire and EMS, Salt Rock Township EMS, and Kirby’s Towing assisted at the scene.
At this time, no charges have been filed. The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers faced by bicyclists on rural roads. Gravel shoulders, limited visibility, and high-speed traffic combine to create hazards for cyclists and drivers alike.
