One week after their postseason run came to an end, the Colonel Crawford boys basketball team came together again—this time to celebrate.
Players, coaches, family, and community members gathered last Sunday in the school’s cafetorium for a recognition ceremony honoring the Eagles’ 2024–2025 season—a season that won’t soon be forgotten in North Robinson.
Under the leadership of longtime head coach Dave Sheldon, Colonel Crawford went 25-2 overall and a perfect 14-0 in Northern 10 Conference play. The Eagles claimed the conference title, secured a regional championship, and advanced to the state semifinals before falling to perennial powerhouse Marion Local.
Junior guard Brayden Holt led the team on both ends of the floor and was named the conference’s Player of the Year. He averaged 18 points and nearly 6 assists per game, while teammate Payne DeGray added another 15 points and 8 rebounds per night, earning first-team honors. Sophomore John DeGray and senior Logan Goddard also received conference recognition.
The season was packed with highlights: a narrow overtime win against Mohawk, a gritty regional final victory over Lima Central Catholic, and a comeback win in the opening round of the tournament. The Eagles played with heart, hustle, and cohesion all season—and the packed house at last week’s ceremony was a testament to the pride they brought to the community.

As the team turns the page and looks to the future, there’s no doubt that the legacy of this year’s Eagles will echo through the gym for years to come.
