Flood Watch Remains in Effect as Rain Continues and Road Closures Increase

freewiremag@gmail.com Published: April 5, 2025 | Updated: April 11, 2025 2 minutes read

As rainfall continues across the region, the Flood Watch for Crawford County remains in effect through 8 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office continues to report road closures due to high water, and additional flooding remains a concern through the overnight hours.

What to Expect: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas is possible throughout north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio—including all of Crawford County.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall may occur early Sunday morning as saturated ground struggles to absorb ongoing rain.

Impacts:

• Excessive runoff may result in flooding of poor drainage areas, city streets, and rural roads.

• Creeks and streams are already running high and may rise further, potentially spilling over their banks.

• Urban and low-lying areas are at increased risk for flash flooding.

• Road closures are expected to continue and may expand as conditions worsen.

Additional Context: The region is already saturated following heavy rain earlier this week, with additional rainfall Saturday morning and continuing intermittently into Sunday. These conditions increase the risk for both flash flooding and longer-term rises in river and creek levels.

Please avoid flooded roadways, obey all posted closures, and report any dangerous conditions to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office at (419) 562-7906.

FreeWire will continue to monitor road conditions, weather updates, and emergency alerts throughout the night to keep readers informed as the situation evolves.

Stay safe and check back with FreeWire Magazine for the latest updates.
