Bucyrus — A quiet afternoon on West Mary Street turned into a flurry of police activity Wednesday as Bucyrus Police and the METRICH Drug Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at 122.5 West Mary Street.
The operation, part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking, resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Michael Hickman of Bucyrus. Officers seized approximately 3 grams of suspected fentanyl, 3 grams of a substance believed to be crack cocaine, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Detective Carver told FreeWire at the scene that officers were still working to confirm the identity of some substances, stating, “We’re still in the early stages of searching.” He also emphasized that the investigation remains active, with further charges or developments possible.
Police did not seize any vehicles during the search, with investigators suspecting Hickman may not own one. Officers also had not yet interviewed the tenant of the downstairs apartment but speculated the two might be “buddies.”
Notably, no guns or weapons were recovered from the property.
Neighbors gathered on nearby porches and sidewalks, watching quietly as officers carried out evidence bags. Some expressed frustration, telling FreeWire they had long suspected the location of being a problem house. “We’ve seen a lot of traffic coming and going,” one resident said. “It’s about time something happened.”
Hickman was taken to the Crawford County Justice Center, where he remains in custody on charges of drug trafficking, tampering with evidence, and possession of drugs.
As always, all individuals named are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
