Oscars 2025: ‘Emilia Pérez’ Leads Nominations, but ‘Anora’ Takes Home the Most Wins The 97th Academy Awards, held on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre, delivered a mix of expected victories and surprising snubs.

While ‘Emilia Pérez’ entered the night as the most-nominated film with 13 nominations, it ultimately won just one award—Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña. Meanwhile, ‘Anora’ emerged as the biggest winner of the night, taking home five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director (Sean Baker), and Best Actress (Mikey Madison).

Biggest Winner: ‘Anora’ Takes the Spotlight Despite strong competition from films like The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez, ‘Anora’ dominated the ceremony, winning five awards:

• Best Picture • Best Director – Sean Baker

• Best Actress – Mikey Madison

• Best Film Editing

• Best Original Screenplay Director Sean Baker’s gritty drama about an unlikely love story captivated audiences and critics alike, securing its place as this year’s standout film.

Biggest Nominations Leader: ‘Emilia Pérez’ Falls Short With 13 nominations, ‘Emilia Pérez’ seemed poised to sweep the night. However, the film managed just one win, with Zoe Saldaña earning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Many had expected the film to win in categories like Best Original Song and Best International Feature, making its performance one of the night’s biggest surprises.

Other Notable Wins and Snubs

• ‘The Brutalist’ secured two major awards: Best Actor (Adrien Brody) and Best Cinematography.

• ‘Dune: Part Two’ claimed Best Sound and Best Visual Effects, reaffirming its dominance in technical categories.

• ‘Wicked’, despite 10 nominations, won just two awards (Best Costume Design and Best Production Design), leaving many fans disappointed.

The 2025 Oscars proved once again that anything can happen on Hollywood’s biggest night. While some films lived up to expectations, others fell short, leaving audiences debating the results long after the final award was handed out.
