Driving Instructor and Volunteer Basketball Coach Jailed After Indictment on Sex Charges Involving Teen

FreeWire Staff Published: March 19, 2026 | Updated: March 26, 2026 3 minutes read

BUCYRUS — A Tiffin man and driving instructor is currently held at the Crawford County Justice Center following a Monday morning arraignment on felony charges involving a 16-year-old girl.

Bruce A. Creasap, 71, of Tiffin, appeared before Judge Sean Leuthold in Crawford County Common Pleas Court to answer to a two-count indictment returned by the January Term Grand Jury. The charges stem from alleged incidents occurring on or about February 6, 2026.

The formal indictment includes one count of Sexual Battery, a felony of the second degree. This charge alleges that Creasap engaged in sexual conduct with a minor while in a position of temporary or occasional disciplinary control, specifically referencing his role as an instructor. He also faces one count of Gross Sexual Imposition, a felony of the fourth degree, which alleges the use of force or threat of force to compel sexual contact.

Attorneys J.C. Ratliff of Ratliff Law have been retained to represent Creasap. During Monday’s session, a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.

Judge Leuthold set a cash/surety bond in the amount of $100,000. Should Creasap secure his release, he must adhere to several strict court-ordered stipulations. These include a total prohibition on the consumption of alcohol or drugs and a mandatory requirement to attend all future court appearances. The court has also issued a “no contact” order, prohibiting any contact with the victim or any other juveniles.

Creasap also previously served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hopewell-Loudon boys’ basketball program.

Hopewell-Loudon School Responds To Indictment

In a public statement, Hopewell-Loudon Superintendent Matt White said the district is aware of the charges involving Creasap.

According to White, Creasap began serving in a limited volunteer role in late January, primarily assisting with scouting opposing teams. Required background checks, including BCI and FBI screenings, were completed at the time and returned with no prior offenses.

White emphasized that the alleged incident did not involve a Hopewell-Loudon student and did not occur during any school-sponsored activity. Upon learning of the charges, the district immediately removed Creasap from any involvement.

“Although this situation does not involve our district or students, their safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we will assist authorities if necessary,” the statement reads. “Conduct of this nature is inconsistent with our standards and will not be tolerated or condoned.”

Creasap remains in custody at the Crawford County Justice Center pending further legal proceedings.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. FreeWire will continue to follow the case and provide updates as they become available.
