BUCYRUS, OH — Public records show former Wynford volunteer coach Chad Eugene Garberich, 39, was arrested in Crawford County and is being held at the Crawford County Jail on serious felony charges, including rape, sexual battery, and tampering with evidence.
The Wynford School District says it was notified by the prosecutor’s office on December 27, 2025, about concerns involving Garberich outside of school. District officials said he was immediately removed from school activities and prohibited from school property after that notification.
The district also said background checks were completed before the season and did not raise concerns. Officials said the matter was handled in coordination with law enforcement and the prosecutor’s office.
According to the district, the allegations are not connected to Wynford students or athletes. Garberich has not yet appeared in court, and his arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
