Powerful winds with gusts reported near 60 mph left damage and disruptions across Bucyrus, forcing business closures and creating hazardous conditions throughout the city.
Baker’s Pizza Suffers Major Roof Damage
One of the most visible impacts of the storm occurred at Baker’s Pizza, where witnesses reported a large portion of the building’s roof being peeled back by the force of the wind. The damage is significant enough that the longtime local restaurant has closed while owners assess the building’s structural integrity.
Retail Disruptions at Walmart and Kroger
Major retailers in Bucyrus also experienced operational issues during the storm. At Walmart, reports from inside the store indicated problems with refrigerated coolers and checkout registers, disrupting normal operations for shoppers.
Kroger experienced a brief power outage lasting about 10 minutes. The store’s backup generator activated quickly, but for a short time employees were unable to assist customers checking out or picking up prescriptions while systems reset.
Tree Crushes Vehicle at Route 4/98 Fork
High winds also toppled a tree near the State Route 4 and U.S. 98 fork, where the falling tree struck a vehicle and caused significant damage to the car.
Storm Leaves Damage At Timken And Hymiler
Additional damage reports continued to come in after the storm. Workers at Timken in Bucyrus reported the facility was briefly without electricity and that part of the roof sustained damage during the high winds. Meanwhile, Hymiler reported sections of its fence were blown over as powerful gusts moved through the area.

Power Outages and Another Windy Day Ahead
Power outages are still being reported across parts of Crawford County following the storm, and AEP crews remain in the area working to restore electricity to affected homes and businesses. Forecasters say windy conditions are expected to continue into Sunday, and trees or utility poles weakened by today’s storm could still fall, so residents should remain cautious
