Bucyrus is preparing to shine brighter than ever as the Annual Candlelight Christmas celebration returns Thursday, December 4, bringing an evening filled with lights, laughter, and holiday cheer for all ages.

One of the most beloved traditions kicks off the night: Horse Drawn Carriage Rides sponsored by Forge Fire. From 5–8 p.m. at Schines Art Park, families can snuggle up and enjoy a nostalgic ride through the bright lights glowing downtown, absolutely free.

Not far away, The Square transforms into a winter playground with a free ice skating rink from 5–8 p.m., courtesy of Farmers Citizens Bank. Whether you glide gracefully or slide around like you’re starring in your own holiday comedy, it’s guaranteed fun for everyone.

As the clock strikes 6 p.m., excitement fills the air along Sandusky Avenue. The Santa Parade steps off from Bucyrus City Hall, sponsored by the Bucyrus Kiwanis, traveling north with glowing lights, and festive local businesses, along with area bands playing holiday tunes. Kids, get ready! Bring a bag to collect goodies from parade participants, and keep your eyes peeled! Santa will be arriving in Bucyrus during the parade!

The community gathers for the Christmas Tree Lighting, sponsored by Altrusa International of Bucyrus.

Story Time with Mrs. Claus brings warmth to the evening as she reads to the children. Every child in attendance receives a copy of the book she shares.

For families looking to make even more memories, there’s plenty happening around town

  • The Bucyrus Public Library will be open from 5–7 p.m. for crafts, games, cocoa, popcorn, and a chance to get a photo with the Grinch!
  • Animal lovers can bring their furry friends for Pet Pictures with Santa at Bucyrus Veterinary Services from 3–5 p.m. at 222 W. Mary St.
  • Crafters and creators can head to Crawford County Art Center at 117 N. Sandusky Ave. from 5–8 p.m. for an Ornament Class and free card making.
  • Bucyrus Historical Society will have an Open House 5-8 p.m. with food, beverages, music and history! Stop in at The Scroggs House at 202 S. Walnut St.

Local businesses are also joining in the festivities. Norton’s Flowers is holding an open house in honor of Sue Stander. Print Happier, Pelican Coffee House, Ley’s Jewelry, the Bratwurst Festival Office all will be open and stop by Old Crawford Land & Title. There will be vendors set up along the sidewalks and at Millennium Park alongside food trucks serving up seasonal favorites.

As Bucyrus comes together for this magical night, the Candlelight Christmas celebration once again reflects what makes this community so special, tradition, togetherness, and the shared joy of the season. Whether you’re taking a carriage ride, sipping cocoa with the kids, or simply strolling beneath the glow of downtown lights, Thursday promises to be an evening that warms the heart and lifts the spirit. Bundle up, gather your loved ones, and join your neighbors as Bucyrus lights up the holidays.
