Joshua Beer, 32, of Mansfield, has been indicted by a Crawford County Grand Jury on several felony charges, including rape, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary, following what prosecutors describe as a continuing course of conduct occurring across Franklin and Crawford counties between November 6 and November 7, 2025.

According to the indictment, Beer is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with the victim by using force or threats of force. Prosecutors allege the victim was compelled to submit, leading to a charge of rape, a first-degree felony under Ohio Revised Code 2907.02(A)(2) and 2907.02(B).

A second count accuses Beer of forcibly removing or restraining the victim’s liberty for the purpose of committing a felony, specifically rape, or to aid in fleeing afterward. That charge, filed under Ohio Revised Code 2905.01(A)(2) and 2905.01(C)(1), is kidnapping, also a first-degree felony.

Additional charges listed in the indictment include:

  • Kidnapping under Ohio Revised Code 2905.01(A)(4) (F1)
  • Aggravated burglary under Ohio Revised Code 2911.11(A)(1) (F1)
  • Aggravated burglary under Ohio Revised Code 2911.11(A)(2) (F1)
  • Disrupting public services under Ohio Revised Code 2909.04(A)(3) (F4)

Arraignment

Beer appeared for arraignment on November 20, 2025, via live video from the Crawford County Justice Center before Judge Sean E. Leuthold. Attorney Kenzie Garverick represented him for the hearing. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Ryan Hoovler and Daniel Stanley appeared on behalf of the state.

During the proceedings, Stanley requested no bond, citing the nature and seriousness of the charges. Judge Leuthold granted the request, and Beer will remain held without bond.

The court has appointed Attorney Thomas G. Nicholson to represent Beer in all future proceedings.

Beer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

FreeWire will continue following this case and provide updates as it moves through Crawford County Common Pleas Court.
