BUCYRUS—Two local women were sentenced to time in prison after pleading guilty to felony drug-related charges in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

Lisa Beachy, 53, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, and was sentenced to a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years in prison.

Two other charges, including a second-degree felony possession of drug charge and a misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia charge, were dismissed as part of Beachy’s plea agreement with prosecutors.

Beachy was arrested during a traffic stop on March 3 on Woodlawn Avenue near Wiley Street. She was found to be in possession of approximately one gram of suspected methamphetamine. Upon further investigation, more methamphetamine was seized from her residence at 333 Hopley Avenue. The total amount of suspected methamphetamine seized by police was approximately 21 grams.

Beachy must also pay court costs and is not eligible for judicial release. She received credit for 78 days she has already spent in jail.

Bridget J. Carnes, 44, will also spend time in prison after she pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs and one charge of illegal conveyance of drug into a correctional facility, both third-degree felonies, during a change of plea hearing on May 19.

Carnes was sentenced to three years in prison on the possession charge and nine months behind bars on the illegal conveyance charge. The sentences are to be served concurrently for a total of three years behind bars.

On Feb. 27, Carnes was arrested by Bucyrus Police during a traffic stop for driving on a suspended driver’s license. With the assistance of K-9 Capone, her vehicle was searched and three bags of methamphetamine were seized by officers. Another bag containing about 4.5 grams of methamphetamine was found while Carnes was being booked in at the Crawford County Justice Center.

In addition to her prison sentence, Carnes was ordered to pay court costs and to forfeit all drug-related property to the Bucyrus Police Department. She will receive credit for 80 days she has already spent in jail.
