Several people were sentenced recently in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on felony charges.

Shelton Lewis, 19, was indicted on July 16, 2024, by the grand jury on one count of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony. He was originally placed on probation for one year in October of 2024 but was charged with a probation violation in November. His probation may have been continued at that time, but he is now heading to prison after violating his probation again in March.

Lewis was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday and will receive 20 days of credit for time he has served in jail.

Draken Brown, 20, Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, during a change of plea hearing on April 29. He was indicted on the charge in January by the Crawford County Grand Jury.

Brown was sentenced to a minimum of four years and a maximum of six years in prison. He will receive credit for 114 days he has already served in jail. He was also ordered to pay court costs and was represented by Bucyrus attorney Thomas G. Nicholson.

Another Bucyrus man will spend the next two years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking in drugs charges on Monday. Billy Chapman, 50, pleaded guilty to one third-degree and one fourth-degree trafficking in drug charges and was sentenced to one year in prison on each charge.

The sentences are to be served consecutively for a total of two years in prison with 49 days credit for time he has already served in jail. Chapman was also ordered to pay court costs and to forfeit all drug-related property to the Bucyrus Police Department.

Richard M. Beachy, 56, also of Bucyrus, was sentenced to two years in prison on Monday after pleading guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Three misdemeanor charges were dismissed as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors. He was also ordered to pay court costs and to forfeit all drug-related property to the Bucyrus Police Department. Beachy will receive credit for 60 days he has already served in jail.
