While Thor might be my favorite superhero on the big screen, my greatest hero has always been real—my grandmother, Ada Lysinger. Growing up, when my parents had to work, I spent countless days with my Mamaw, Ada.
She wasn’t just a babysitter—she was my biggest supporter. No matter what was happening, she showed up. Every play, every school concert, every football game to watch the marching band—she was there, no matter how cold it was outside, bundled up and cheering with pride.
But Ada’s heroism wasn’t just about showing up for events. It was about the life she built from hardship. She escaped a domestic violence situation, starting over on her own with two daughters. She worked tirelessly at Kroger, determined to give her family a better life. She did. Her daughters—my mom, Judy, and my aunt, Joy—grew into strong, amazing women who are still known and loved throughout our community.
Wherever I go, someone always shares a story about my mom or my aunt, and each story is a reflection of the strength, kindness, and love Ada passed down.

On this Superhero Day, I want to honor the woman who taught me the most important lessons of all—the power of resilience and the importance of love. Ada Lysinger is my real-life superhero, and I am forever grateful to be part of her story.
Take a moment today to think about your own personal hero—the one who showed you how to be strong, how to love, and how to never give up.
I remember Ada, she was always so friendly with a very warm smile. Joy was in my sister’s high school class.
It was nice to read such an uplifting story!

I thought that was Joy! RIH!! ♥️♥️
Proves what they say…strong women raise strong women.
