BUCYRUS—The general election may still be a few weeks away, but early voting is in
full swing.

the Crawford County Courthouse began on Oct. 7 and ends on Nov. 2, two days before
the general election on Nov. 4.
Bucyrus voters will be choosing a new Bucyrus City Council President. Long-time city
council member Kevin Myers is running against newcomer Greg White.
This is White’s second time running for the position after he lost to current city council
president, Kurt Fankhauser, in 2023, in a three-way race that included Allison LeClair.
LeClair has thrown her hat in the ring this time to run against Bucyrus Council Ward Two
member and Incumbent C. Aaron Sharrock.
Four candidates are running for three council-at-large positions on Bucyrus City
Council. They include incumbent James Mee, newcomers Robert Taylor and Ray Thitoff
and write-in candidate Alena Fox.
For third-ward council member, incumbent Terry Spiegel is running against newcomer
Gary Daiber. Like Fox, both Spiegel and Daiber are write-in candidates.
According to information obtained from the Ohio Secretary of State’s website, the
process to vote for a write-in candidate is:
- Locate the Write-in option: On the screen for a specific race, find the option
labeled "Write-in" and touch it. A write-in space will be available for any office
where a valid declaration was filed. - Type the candidate's name: Use the on-screen keyboard to type the name of
the write-in candidate you wish to vote for. - Accept and review: Once you have typed the name, press "Accept" or "OK" to
record the selection and return to the ballot. - Complete the ballot: After making all your selections, including any write-in
votes, press the "Review" button to carefully check your choices. - Cast your vote: When you are satisfied with your selections, press the final
"VOTE" button to cast your ballot.
For a position on the Wynford School District Board of Education, Kristie Chandler will
be running as a write-in to fill one of three seats up for re-election. Two other candidates
are also running, including Levi Hartschuh and Matthew Stahl.
Crawford County Judge Shane Leuthold’s position is up for re-election and he is running
unopposed. Also, Bucyrus City Law Director Brandon Gobrecht is running unopposed
for his position.
Others running unopposed in Bucyrus are newcomer Adrienne Kemery for city
treasurer, incumbent Chris Mauritz for city council ward one member and newcomer
Cody Thomas Scott for fourth ward council member.
An income tax levy of 0.065 percent will be on the ballot for Bucyrus city voters for the
operation and maintenance of the Aumiller Park pool, concession stand, restrooms and
other park facilities. The levy is proposed to begin on Jan. 1, 2026, and last four years.
Two local businesses are asking that voters approve a Sunday liquor license, including
Sujo, L.L.C doing business as the Wren’s Nest and Casey’s Marketing Company doing
business as Casey’s General Store on East Mansfield Street and Stetzer Road.
