Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Armstrong, age 77, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born on July 4, 1947, in Mansfield, Ohio, Tom was the son of the late Oval and Lillian (Smith) Armstrong.
After graduating from high school in Mansfield, he went on to study Education and School Administration at both Kent State University and Bowling Green State University. During his school years, Tom was a standout athlete, excelling in both football and track. Tom started his career in education, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him down many other fulfilling paths.
While attending church in Fremont, Tom met the love of his life, Barbara Keith. They married in 1972, and together, they built a life full of love, adventure, and laughter-splitting their time between Ohio and Florida.
A man of boundless energy and charm, Tom never met a stranger. He had the unique gift of connecting with people and striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. His adventurous nature led him to take to the skies as a pilot and to the open roads on his motorcycle. A free spirit through and through, he embraced life fully. In his free time, Tom enjoyed watching Fox News and endlessly exploring YouTube.
Staying active was important to him-he loved working out and playing golf. Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara Armstrong of Morral; his daughter, Michelle (Jeremy) Roberts of Morral; grandchildren, Tyler (Haley Whittington) Detillion, Brandon (Kelsey) Roberts, and Brittany (Andy) Holmes; and great-grandchildren, Holden Roberts and the soon-to-arrive Baby Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Heather Armstrong, in 2000. A private family burial will be held at Grand Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Life Church. Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, is honored to serve Tom's family. Online condolences may be shared at www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com
