Let’s get one thing straight: the pink moon isn’t actually pink. I know, disappointing. No glowing pepto bismol orb rising over the horizon—just your standard full moon in all its silvery glory.
The name comes from the early spring bloom of wildflowers like moss pink (aka creeping phlox), which pop up around the same time. So, it’s not about the color—it’s about the vibe.

The pink full moon will reach its peak on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 8:22 PM EDT, and will appear full from Friday evening through Sunday night.
This one also qualifies as a micromoon, meaning it’s at its farthest point from Earth and will look a little smaller than other full moons—but still just as magical if you’re outside soaking it in.
Because even if it’s not pink, it’s still a full moon—It might be chilly so bundle up in your favorite hoodie—it’s the perfect excuse to pause, breathe and look up. Take a minute to enjoy it.
Unless you work in health care or law enforcement. Then you already know—full moons don’t bring peace, they bring the chaos. Buckle up.
See you in May when we talk about the Flower Moon.
