Bucyrus High School Senior senior Alory (pronounced Uh-LOR-ee) Meade is making sure her final year is one to remember — so much so that she’s even given it a name: her “Senior Strawberry Era.” She explains, “I wanted my final year of high school to be memorable and sweet.” A Heart for Helping Alory describes herself as helpful, kind, and always willing to lend a hand. She has a servant’s heart and values the connections she’s made with classmates, teachers, and her community.

A Love for Music and Performance

Music has been a huge part of Alory’s high school experience. She is involved in marching band, concert band, choir, Bucyrus Players (show choir), pep band, and musical theater. These activities have helped her grow and express herself. Favorite Marching Band Show: The Ladies Production Show her sophomore year, which celebrated famous women in music. Favorite Concert Band Piece: “Brave Spirit,” a Japanese-themed composition. Favorite Choir Performance: “Never One Thing,” which she sang as part of the Honor Choir at Otterbein College. Favorite Bucyrus Players Memory: Singing “Holding Out for a Hero” for passengers during an impromptu performance on the BB Riverboat Cruise in Cincinnati. Best Band Memory: Surprising Mr. Carpenter with band-themed onesies for his baby boy during her freshman year.

Academic Favorites

Favorite Class: Anatomy — her love for science and learning about the human body makes this her top pick. Favorite Teacher: Mr. Tinnermeier, her fourth-grade American History teacher at BES. His dedication, encouragement, and love for his students made a lasting impact. Beyond the Classroom Alory’s extracurricular involvement is impressive. She’s active in DECA, Interact Club, ROX, Yearbook, Student Council, pep band, musical, Players, and marching band. Her dedication shows her passion for leadership, creativity, and teamwork.

A Heart for Service

In addition to her school activities, Alory is dedicated to serving her community. She is a preschool Sunday school teacher and is involved in the youth praise band and youth group at Bucyrus Nazarene Church. She is also a participant in the church’s Passion Play. Over the years, she has also dedicated her time to volunteering in Safety Town, where she’s been helping young children learn essential safety tips since the fifth grade.

Looking to the Future After graduation, Alory plans to attend Marion Technical College for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. However, music will always be a part of her life. “I have always loved music and plan to perform in community theater after graduation,” she shares. Catch Alory in Junie B. Jones Alory will soon be seen in Junie B. Jones, where she plays the lunch lady Mrs. Gutzman. The musical performances will be held on March 21st at 7pm and March 22nd at 2pm and 7pm.

Words of Wisdom

Alory’s advice to future BHS students — including her little brother, Grayson — is simple yet powerful: “Never give up on your dreams, and don’t let anyone convince you that you can’t do it. Hard work really pays off in the end.” A Legacy of Friendship and Music Looking back on her time at BHS, Alory says her most memorable moments will be the friendships and connections she made through band, choir, and musical theater. The experiences she’s shared with students, staff, and even peers from other schools will stay with her long after graduation.

As she prepares to move on to the next chapter, there’s no doubt that Alory Meade’s Senior Strawberry Era has been as sweet and unforgettable as she hoped it would be. Alory is the daughter of James and Nakisha Meade, the granddaughter of Rick and Jeannie Roberts, and her Maw-Maw Cathy
