Shane V. Zaborszki, 59, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on February 27, 2025.
He and his twin brother (Steve) were born on December 1,1965 in Amherst, Ohio to Sally (Wisniewski) Zaborszki Gibaldi and the late Stephen Zaborszki Jr. While at Westlake High School, Shane was a prolific cross-country runner, track star, and basketball player. He had eight varsity letters, two team captain stars (Cross Country and Track - which were undefeated his junior and senior years, winning four Southwestern Conference patches). This gave him the most decorated letterman jacket for the class of 1984. Shane went to college at the University of Toledo, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree. He then began his career with Honda, working in various locations in Ohio and Japan. He moved to Bucyrus to be the Quality Manager for IB Tech, a Honda supplier. He loved helping his neighbors and attending Bucyrus Nazarene Church.
Shane will be remembered for his strength, active life, and intelligence. There was not a task too big for him to take on at work and he loved being active outside. Shane hiked to the top of Mt. Fuji while in Japan on three occasions, skied with the Columbus Ski Club, and was especially known for his love of motorcycles. His passion for riding led to him becoming a riding instructor where he was able to instill the same love upon countless students. He visited Sturgis, rode with No Cages H-D Club, and won the Iron Butt Challenge, among other feats.
The game of golf was another passion of his. He played on numerous courses and was a marshal at The Memorial Tournament for 25 years. During that time, he received a personalized autographed picture from Jack Nichols. Shane and his dad traded the “Zaborszki Cup,” which is still a competition among many of his family members.
Shane raised his children to work hard, compete fairly, never give up, and carry the Zaborszki name well. Being at their events when they were growing up brought him great joy and he was proud to see them grow into the fine young adults they are today.
Shane is survived by his mother, Sally Gibaldi; children: Katie, Joseph, and Nicholas Zaborszki; twin brother, Steve (Judy) Zaborszki and their children: Bradley (Alyssa), Brian (Emily), Jason, and Julia; special aunt, Judy Wisniewski; and the mother of Shane’s children, Lisa Hayes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Gibby Gibaldi.
A Celebration of Life Service will be hosted at Bucyrus Nazarene Church (2165 St. Rte. 4 South, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820) on Sunday, March 16 at 2:00 pm.
