CESSNA TOWNSHIP, OH — June 13, 2025 — Joseph Bayliff, the owner of Route 30 Harley-Davidson in Upper Sandusky, was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday night, according to a statement released by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on June 12 near the intersection of State Route 309 and County Road 95 in Cessna Township. Bayliff, a rural Dunkirk resident, was riding his 2017 Harley-Davidson eastbound on County Road 90 when his motorcycle left the north side of the roadway, crossed a drainage ditch, and entered onto SR 309. He was ejected from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency units from McGuffey Fire Department, Kenton Fire Department, BKP Ambulance District, the Multi County Crash Team, the Hardin County Coroner’s Office, and Osborns Towing all responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Bayliff was a prominent figure in the local motorcycle community and the driving force behind Route 30 Harley-Davidson. Known for his passion for riding, Joe helped build the Upper Sandusky dealership into a welcoming hub for bikers across the region.
In a moving tribute posted Friday morning, Bayliff’s wife, Mandie, confirmed the devastating news.
"You were my whole entire world," she wrote. "Joe was killed on his bike last night… You were the only one who could ever reach me. You were the only one."

She asked for support from the Route 30 family, their children, and the community in the difficult days ahead.
FreeWire extends its deepest condolences to Mandie, their family, the staff at Route 30, and everyone mourning this tragic loss. We will update this story as new details become available.
