BUCYRUS, OH — Sixteen employees — nearly 40% of the estimated 42-person workforce — were laid off Tuesday morning at Arctic Cat’s Distribution Center in Bucyrus, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. Workers were reportedly walked out of the facility on May 13, confirming long-rumored cuts following the company’s recent acquisition by Ontario Drive and Gear (ODG).
FreeWire has reached out to both Arctic Cat and ODG for comment, but neither company has responded as of publication.
According to internal sources, the company currently has no plans to shut down the plant entirely, but more cuts are not out of the question. One employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, said morale has been low in recent weeks as rumors of consolidation and restructuring intensified.
Arctic Cat, known for its snowmobiles and off-road vehicles, has operated its Bucyrus distribution center for years, serving as a key logistics hub. The acquisition by ODG raised questions about the long-term outlook for the facility, especially as integration efforts begin.
This is a developing story. FreeWire will update with additional details as they become available.
