Bucyrus Municipal Court issued fines, jail time, license suspensions, and probation conditions last week in a series of misdemeanor cases and felony bind-overs.
OVI and Related Cases
- Bobby A. Hicks, 43, Bucyrus — pleaded guilty to OVI and to driving under OVI suspension. He was fined $1,290 and sentenced to a total of 190 days in jail (180 days for the OVI with none suspended, plus 10 days for the suspension charge with 170 of 180 days suspended). His license was suspended for 10 years. Hicks must refrain from alcohol and drugs, submit to random testing, and may not drive without a valid license and insurance.
- Blake W. Kimberlin, 21, Galion — pleaded guilty to OVI (high-test result) and to a hit-skip on private property. He was fined $665 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 120 days suspended on the OVI and 180 days fully suspended on the hit-skip. He received a one-year license suspension and must complete an alcohol/drug assessment, refrain from substance use, and submit to random checks.
- David J. Jackson, 41, Galion — pleaded guilty to OVI. He was fined $565 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 suspended, with three days served through a driver intervention program. His license was suspended for one year, and he is subject to random testing.
Other Misdemeanor Convictions
- Steven Dusz, 38, Bucyrus — pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct (M4). He was fined $100, sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 suspended, and assessed $319 in costs. Dusz must refrain from drugs and alcohol and is subject to random testing and searches.
- Sean A. Bettis, 27, Mansfield — pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct (M4) and menacing by stalking (M1). He was fined $150, sentenced to 180 days in jail with 179 suspended, and ordered to complete a mental health assessment. Bettis was also barred from any contact with the victim.
- David J. Jackson, 41, Galion — in a separate case, pleaded guilty to child endangerment (M1). He was fined $200 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, fully suspended, with conditions of no alcohol or drugs and random testing.
- Shane A. Bittner, 45, Galion — pleaded guilty in two driving-under-suspension cases. In the first, for DUS/FRA (M4), he was fined $150 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, fully suspended. In the second, for driving under a 12-point suspension (M1), he was fined $100 and sentenced to 180 days with 177 suspended.
- Jason Barger, 52, Hamilton — pleaded guilty to misuse of a handicap placard (M3). He was fined $50 and ordered to pay court costs.
- Carlos Castellanos-Romero, 30, Bucyrus — pleaded guilty to reckless operation (M3). He was fined $500, sentenced to 60 days in jail, fully suspended, and placed on probation with conditions including an alcohol/drug program, random testing, and no alcohol or drug use.
Felony Bind-Overs
- Garret M. Litteral, 35, La Rue — charged with fourth-degree felony disrupting public services. The case was bound over to Crawford County Common Pleas Court.
- Austin D. Schifer, 31, Bucyrus — charged with fourth-degree felony domestic violence. The case was bound over to common pleas court.
