Diddy Acquitted on Major Charges, Convicted on Two Lesser Counts

NEW YORK, July 2, 2025 – In a split verdict that’s already sparking fierce debate, Sean “Diddy” Combs was found not guilty of the most serious charges brought against him—racketeering and sex trafficking—but guilty on two lesser counts related to prostitution.

The case, which has captivated national attention for months, stemmed from federal allegations that Combs used his wealth and influence to orchestrate a network of abuse masked by celebrity glamour. While prosecutors argued that Combs operated a criminal enterprise involving coercion and manipulation, the jury ultimately rejected the idea that his actions rose to the level of organized crime.

Charges and Outcome

Combs faced five federal charges:

  • Racketeering conspiracy (RICO)
  • Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion
  • Two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution

The jury deliberated for two days before acquitting him on the first three charges and convicting him on the remaining two. Each of those convictions carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

Inside the Courtroom

When the verdict was read, Combs appeared emotional but composed. “I’m gonna be home soon,” he was overheard telling a member of his team. Outside, family and supporters erupted in cheers, while prosecutors exited without comment.

Defense vs. Prosecution

The prosecution painted a picture of a powerful man using his fame as a shield for predatory behavior, frequently referencing his long-term relationship with Cassie Ventura and a second unnamed woman. The defense countered with text messages, testimonies, and timelines that suggested the encounters were consensual and not part of any coordinated criminal plan.

Legal analysts say the prosecution may have overreached by framing the case as racketeering—an approach more commonly used against mafia figures and drug cartels.

What Comes Next

Combs now faces sentencing, where federal guidelines recommend 4–5 years in prison, though his team is expected to argue for less. The judge has not yet ruled on whether Combs will be released on bail while awaiting sentencing.

He also remains the target of multiple civil lawsuits, including cases alleging sexual abuse of minors—charges that, while outside the scope of this trial, continue to threaten his public standing and business empire.

A Partial Win, But Far From Over

While today’s verdict spares Diddy a potential life sentence, the legal battle is far from finished. The convictions, though minor by comparison, could still result in prison time and will almost certainly impact the ongoing civil cases.

In the court of public opinion, Combs remains under a cloud. For his supporters, the acquittals represent vindication. For critics, they’re a sign that wealth and fame still buy powerful insulation from accountability.
