DB Bookkeeping Brings Personalized Financial Services to Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Local business owner Teresa Bullion realized a long time ago that bookkeeping is about more than just numbers.

“It quickly became more than just numbers for me; it became a way to help people reduce stress, stay organized, and make confident decisions,” said Bullion.

It was that experience, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, that led her to start DB Bookkeeping so she could put her education and skills to work for the community.

DB Bookkeeping is a community-focused microbusiness rooted in personalized service and strong local relationships.

“I returned to college in my 50s while being a proud grandmother, proving it’s never too late to invest in education and growth,” said Bullion, who earned her accounting degree and bookkeeping certificate from North Central State College. “I am also a QuickBooks accountant and ProAdvisor.”

She has also been honored through placement on North Central State’s Dean’s List and holds memberships in Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, and the Institute of Management Accountants.

“I started in bookkeeping by going back to college later in life to build a strong foundation in accounting. As I learned more, I realized I could help small businesses, families, and residents of our community and beyond,” said Bullion.

Her son, Kristopher, also plays an important role in the business by helping with content creation, marketing, and eBook development.

“Having his support allows us to better connect with the community and share helpful financial resources in creative, accessible ways,” said Bullion, who opened her business on May 9, 2025.

She said the name DB Bookkeeping has a very personal and meaningful origin, as the “DB” stands for recurring initials in phrases like “Down to Business” and “Down to the Basics,” which reflect how she approaches bookkeeping — with clarity, simplicity, and focus.

“It also honors my beloved brother, whose initials were DB. He is now an angel, and carrying his memory in the business keeps him close to my heart as I serve our clients and community,” said Bullion.

An entrepreneur at heart, Bullion said that starting her own business was a goal she had set for herself while she was still in college.

“Launching DB Bookkeeping allowed me to take everything I learned in the classroom and turn it into something meaningful, serving my community through dependable bookkeeping services and practical financial resources,” said Bullion. “It was both a proud milestone and the start of a new chapter.”

Bullion offers an array of services through her business in addition to traditional bookkeeping services.

“I work closely with both businesses and families to offer practical financial support that fits real life,” said Bullion.

Services include bookkeeping and account organization, QuickBooks management and support, budget creation and money planning, and credit knowledge and education, such as understanding credit reports, building or improving credit, and learning how everyday financial choices impact long-term goals.

“We also help clients with basic financial guidance, including setting up systems to track expenses, planning for bills, managing cash flow, and creating simple, easy-to-follow financial routines,” said Bullion. “The focus is on breaking down finances into clear, manageable steps so clients feel informed, confident, and in control.”

Bullion does not offer tax preparation services at this time.

“I do focus on helping clients stay organized throughout the year so they are better prepared when tax season arrives. By keeping accurate records, clear budgets, and well-maintained books, clients are able to work more smoothly with their tax professionals, and we are proud to work alongside several trusted tax service providers in our community who can help unravel those tricky tax situations,” said Bullion.

She said QuickBooks training is offered for those who want to become bookkeepers and QuickBooks ProAdvisors.

“My goal is to build a team of skilled professionals so local businesses or entrepreneurs have access to a talented workforce in this essential field,” said Bullion of her plan to grow DB Bookkeeping. “By not only supporting businesses directly but also developing local talent, we strengthen our community’s financial foundation and access to financial expertise.”

She said an eBook forum will be launched soon to help local residents create their very own eBooks.

“Share your ideas with us, and we’ll help turn them into a finished product. It’s an exciting opportunity for our community to bring their stories, knowledge, and business ideas to life,” said Bullion. “Be sure to follow DB Bookkeeping on Facebook for all the upcoming details — you won’t want to miss what’s coming next!”

“We will be promoting financial games, books, and bookkeeping supplies available for local pick-up, delivery, or shipping. This is part of an upcoming launch focused on making financial tools more accessible for businesses and families,” said Bullion. “Our Facebook page is a fun, welcoming hub for financial resources, helpful tips, and exciting giveaways. I wanted to create a space where people feel comfortable learning, sharing, and talking about money, whether it’s for their business or personal life.”

Her goal is to make finance approachable, engaging, and community-focused.

“I encourage everyone to follow along, join the conversation, and grow with us,” said Bullion.
