BUCYRUS — A 19-year-old Bucyrus man has been sentenced to a significant prison term following a burglary investigation last November.
Kaleb Drain pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a second-degree felony, during a change of plea hearing on Feb. 23 in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, a second charge of tampering with evidence was dismissed.
Drain was sentenced to a minimum of seven years and a maximum of 10.5 years in prison. The sentence falls under the Regan Tokes Act, which means the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction can maintain Drain’s incarceration for the full 10.5 years if he fails to follow institutional rules. If he remains in good standing, he can be released after the minimum seven-year term.
In addition to the prison sentence, Drain was ordered to pay court costs and forfeit all drug-related property to the Bucyrus Police Department. He will receive credit for 107 days already served in jail.
