While the Editor-in-Chief was out of state this week, I had the chance to step in to help keep things running at FreeWire. Now that Logan is back and I’m handing the keys over, I wanted to leave you with one final thought before I go...
With only a few meetings left this year, Bucyrus City Council faces a choice: spend the remaining weeks arguing, or come together and start doing the work residents have been waiting to see.
The past year has been filled with division and stalled progress while the needs of our city continue to grow. Bucyrus is dealing with aging infrastructure, limited housing options, and the ongoing challenge of attracting new jobs and businesses. These issues affect every resident, and they deserve serious attention from a council that can put aside politics and personal feelings long enough to solve them.
Our community also needs to take pride in how it looks. Mere blocks from downtown sits a property that looks like a junkyard, complete with junk cars and a camper. That kind of neglect doesn’t reflect the pride or potential of Bucyrus. Holding property owners and landlords accountable for maintaining their lots isn’t about being harsh, it’s about keeping Bucyrus clean, safe, and inviting for everyone who lives here and everyone who passes through.
The people of Bucyrus elected this council and administration because we believed in their ability to lead and to make things better. There is still time to prove us right. Show up for these last few meetings, work together, and get something meaningful done. Bucyrus deserves action, not excuses.
